1st Tsurugi Progression

Description

Hey everyone! This is the progression of the 1st Tsurugi I made...took about a month on and off.

First! I took reference from Dissidia and another picture I found from the internet, as well as the movie. Advice to those using Dissidia as a reference, DON'T. Cause it's very different, look for yourself. Soon after realizing this, I had to innovate those to designs together as I drew it on the styrofrom (this is AFTER I cut out the main shape and middle of the sword (the holes and stuff). All in all the design came out fine, meh thinks.

Then! I sanded/ cut the styrofoam to the thickness of the actual sword. Once it was smoothed out, I put that metallix tape and masking tape on it, to keep the styrofoam from melting cause...the next step involves fiberglass!

With the help of my dad, we laid the fiberglass on the design. It kept hardening fast, so a lot of clumps of fiberglass were formed...but persevered and tried to smooth them out, failing. So after it dried, it was very bumpy and hard to sand.

Once I sanded it to where it was smooth, I put bondo on it and sanded it down til' was really smooth, filling in the little dips with puddy.

Then my dad sprayed it with primer, then silver. I then did the airbrushing to give it more detail. After all the airbrushing was done, my dad sprayed a coat of clear on it. Then I wrapped the handle in red velvet.

And then...yeah. FINALLY!!!! It's done. I was skeptical at first after we put on the fiberglass....cause like...it looked BAD. But I didn't wanna give up after putting as much work as I did into it...so I kept working on it...and it came out pretty good. :)

The sword weighs in total of 5-10 pounds, I realized. It's really sturdy though! Let's see some examples...Well...I let some drunk guy hold...who ended up dropping it pretty hard and not even a scratch was on it, the paint didn't chip either. Also! I fought a Sephiroth....really...fought a Sephiroth....cause he was like...trying to do things...that involve yaoi. FORGET FAN SERVICE, I don't like it. Neither would Cloud. So ANYWAYS, he decided to fight me and swung at me, so I like, actually had to use my sword to defend myself. He left...like...two chinks in the side, but it's fine other then that. His sword...well...we can assume what happened to his sword. :D It was a lot worse off than mine. xD Cheapo.

Questions and comments are welcomed. :D
